Sunday Funday in Southern California

Waking up this morning and taking a quick drive through the rainy mist to my local Starbucks made me miss the last week I spent in Phoenix, where it was sunny and warm 24/7. Yet, by the time I showered and started my day (the day doesn't officially begin until after a quad shot iced peppermint mocha), it was beautiful out.

My dog, Aix and I headed over to Sunset Cliffs, likely the most under appreciated and least known of all San Diego county beaches. We hiked on top of the cliffs, overlooking the Pacific in all it's majesty. The beaches below the cliffs are breathtaking and secluded. He peed on things, I considered peeing on things and decided with several people watching me, perhaps it was not the appropriate time. Maybe later I'll head back, when it's dark, and mark my territory, I thought to myself. Aix looked up at me and as if to teach me a thing or two, lifted his leg on a nearby bush.

So going home with my tail between my legs, I decided to get some work done. I'm launching a new business and super excited. I believe you are on the right life path when work doesn't feel like work, when you cannot go a single day without working on your project and when you feel guilty for missing a day. This is the way I've lived life for the past several months and encourage you to do the same. Find your muse. Find your passion.

Later I met a friend at the Fashion Valley food court, located on the top level of the outdoor mall. Soaking up the rays, people watching and sipping the fifth and sixth Strabucks espresso shots of the day is not a bad way to spend a Sunday. And speaking of spending... have you ever noticed how when you see other people shopping, buying things, swiping credit cards and confidently rocking their newest purchases, it makes you want to do the same? Me too. Still, I refrained.

Why? I'm saving my money for the new iPad. Duh.

Now, writing this, detailing Sunday Funday for you, drinking a Green Flash Imperial IPA and grilling steaks, I must stop and give thanks to how lucky I am to live this life. Something I've found helpful each night before bed, I write down 3 things that went well for me that day. It helps keep me focused and start the next day refreshed and with new energy. Try it. Til tomorrow, WSC out.
